Oakland Climate Action Coalition: I recently was asked to join this coalition to help organize the local response to climate change in Oakland. Led by the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, the OCAC is a vibrant network of local organizations in Oakland leading the charge for a progressive, comprehensive Climate Action Plan.

San Francisco Green Drinks: Seeing so many talented folks out of work in the Bay Area in early 2009, I had the idea to put on a green career fair. I teamed up with the SF Green Drink organizers, and created a dedicated crew of over 30 volunteers to put on this fantastic event: Green Career Connections. As the founding organizer, I'm really proud of what we accomplished- even in the dismal economy of May 2009, we helped folks score new jobs. Congrats!

SPUR Sustainable Development Committee: As a "Young Urbanist" Member of SPUR, I frequently attend forums and events to stay up to date on current sustainability topics in the Bay Area. Now as part of the Sustainable Development Committee, I engage with other leaders in the city to explore questions of sustainability in the city.

San Francisco Sunday Streets: I currently serve on the steering committee for SF Sunday Streets, and was the Volunteer Manager for the 2009 Season. A fantastic community event, modeled after Ciclovia in Bogota, which has been going strong since the 1970's. I recently got to participate in Ciclovia- was incredible!

Transportation for America: This is a great coalition of transportation/urban planning/public health/bike/ped. etc organizations, all fighting for more comprehensive and sustainable transportation policies.

Livable Outreach Team, Greenbelt Alliance: A network of planing professionals, graduate students, and concerned citizens, we gather together to lead professional forums, urban outings and more.

SPARK: Spark is a fantastic mentorship program for middle school youth, and I've had the great opportunity to serve as a Mentor/Apprentice Teacher to two very bright young students who came from diverse backgrounds. The students join their Mentor at their workplace to shadow their work. I love my Spark kids!

Newsday Tuesday: This informal monthly discussion group draws professionals from across the Bay Area to discuss pertinent current events, like the Waxman-Markey Bill, health care legislation, the state of public transit, and more.
